What is Silicone Sealant?

Silicone sealant is a fluid form of adhesive. It has a different chemical

make-up from other organic polymer-based adhesives. Unlike other
adhesives, silicone keeps its elasticity, resistance and stability in both high
as well as low temperatures. Furthermore, silicone sealant is resistant to
other chemicals, moisture, and weathering.

Silicone sealants are usually used to seal windows to frames, as they

provide a water-resistant seal that maintains a strong grip against punitive
weather conditions. Silicone sealer is often used for automobiles,
appliances, and sealing cables and sensors in electronic devices

When properly applied, silicone is a versatile adhesive and sealant that

creates a waterproof, protective seal, which can last up to more than 15
years
Usually, siloxanes are well tolerated by the human organism, and
hence they are an integral part of innovative methods of treatment
and health care. They are commonly regarded as non-toxic or toxic
to a very small extend to humans and the environment,

Generally speaking, maximum silicone sealants take about 24

hours to cure completely. After this point they can be safely
exposed to water, moisture, and other conditions of normal use. It is
important to mention, however, that a few factors can influence
curing time.

It's used for medical, electrical, cooking, and other purposes.

Because silicone is considered chemically stable, experts say it's
safe to use and likely not toxic
