    The Seven Years War was a global conflict fought between 1754 and 1763 that involved all of the major European powers of the time. It began as a local conflict between France and Britain over territory in North America but expanded globally. By the Treaty of Paris in 1763, France ceded Louisiana to Spain and its North American territories to Britain. Britain also gained territory in India. The war established Britain and Prussia as the dominant European powers and shifted the global balance of power towards Britain.
