Preliminaries
• Course Title: Understanding the Self
• 3 Units
• Course Description:
- Deals with nature of identity
- Factors that affect development of personal
identity.
 3 MAJOR PARTS
• 1st part: Seek to understand the construct of
self from 3 disciplines :Sociology, Philosophy,
Anthropology and Psychology.
• 2nd part: Explores some that make up the self
aspects from biological to recent digital self.
• 3rd part: Learning, goal setting and managing
stress factors
 LEARNING OUTCOMES
• Understand/know the self from various
perspective ( conceptualization from various
perspective ).
• Unpacking The self ( reflective thought on
different aspects of self identity )
• Managing and Caring for the self ( managing
oneself for a better life)

 HOUSE RULES
• Courtesy in the conduct of online class is
observed ( Dress code, conducive environment)
• No interruption during facilitator’s
presentation(questions will be addressed after
the presentation).
• Be prompt and online at least 20 minutes prior to
our class.
• PM me if you have personal concerns ( no posting
irrelevant concerns/issues in GC.
 GRADING SYSTEM
• QUIZ/attendance – 35%
- 10-15 points attendance
• Long Exam – 35 %
• Project – 30% ( attainable )
• Midterm – 50%
• Final – 50 %
