NOUNS

IN
NOMINATIVE CASE
What are the different ways that we can do to show kindness?

Now take a look at these sentences that contain the underlined

words:
1. Teachers never get tired of teaching us values or good
lessons in life.
2. Last year, my teacher, an English expert, gave us project.
3. Class, you may find this project unnatural but this is only at
the beginning.
4. This become a habit.
Nouns are in the nominative form if they are used as:
1. Subject – WHEN THE NOUN IS THE TOPIC.
Example: Maricon is the best representative for the singing contest.
2. Appositive – when it identifies, explains, or renames the noun it modifies.
Example: Boys, you should do all the dance steps.
3. Direct address – when the noun refers to the person who is directly talked, called
or addressed by the speaker.
Example: Maricon, a five-time singing champion, is the best representative for
the singing contest.
4. Subject complement – when the noun is used to identify the subject; it follows A
linking verb.
Example: Jose Rizal is our national hero

2. Diana, a first cousin of mine, is a risk-taker
3. Grace, you are definitely my choice
4. Emilio, see me at my office after lunch

REMEMBER:
* In subject form there is the subject and he/ she is the doer of the
action.
* A noun or noun phrase functions as an appositive when it’s
placed next to some other nominative noun to identify or rename
it.
* Subject complement when it’s used in the predicate following a
linking verb, and serves to identify or describe the subject of the
sentence.
* A direct address is always a proper noun set off by a comma
from the main structure of the sentence.
REFLECTION # 3
An act of kindness maybe done randomly. It doesn’t have
to be planned but as the situation calls for it, you should
readily respond. Write a short paragraph on how you can do
random acts of kindness to show the importance of doing
good things for others.
