effective communication
of information/ideas
(Compound-Complex
Sentence)
A compound sentence is composed of two
independent clauses (or complete sentences)
connected to one another using a coordinating
conjunction. Coordinating conjunctions are easy to
recall if you remember the words “FAN BOYS ”: for,
and, nor, but, or, yet, so.
A complex sentence is composed of an
independent clause and one or more dependent
clauses connected to it.
Dependent clauses begin with subordinating
conjunctions: after, although, as, beacause, before,
even though, if, since, though, unless, untill, when,
whenever, whereas, wherever, and while.
