This document presents an automatic waste segregator that can segregate three types of waste - dry, wet, and metallic. It uses inductive and moisture sensors to identify the type of waste, and then an Arduino microcontroller and DC motor to segregate the identified waste into different bins. The waste identification process involves the waste falling through a pipe onto the sensors, and the sensors detecting the material type. The segregation process then involves the motor rotating the bins to deposit the waste into the correct bin based on the sensor identification.

• Manual segregation and disposal consumes
time and money. • So, waste segregation should be done at the source itself. • This is achieved through identification and separation. Proposed system • Three kinds of wastes can be segregated – dry, wet and metallic. • Inductive sensor senses metallic waste and moisture sensor senses dry and wet wastes. • IR sensor is used for detection of the object. • DC geared motor is used for rotation of the bin. • Arduino UNO is the microcontroller unit. Explanation of working • The structure consists of the following: Pipe, flap, bin. • The entire process is divided into two steps: Identification and Segregation. Identification: • The materials are added in the pipe one by one. • The internal structure of the pipe is such that the materials fall only on the sensors. • The sensors are placed at the bottom of the pipe in the priority 1. proximity sensor for metal detection 2. moisture sensor to detect dry and wet wastes. Inductive proximity sensor • A high-frequency magnetic field is generated by coil L in the oscillation circuit. When a target approaches the magnetic field, an induction current (eddy current) flows in the target due to electromagnetic induction. As the target approaches the sensor, the induction current flow increases, which causes the load on the oscillation circuit to increase. Then, oscillation attenuates or stops. The sensor detects this change in the oscillation status with the amplitude detecting circuit, and outputs a detection signal. THANK YOU
