o Describe on how to multiply the numbers
o Solve the given word problems involving
multiplication of 2 digit numbers by 1 digit
number.
o Show carefulness in solving multiplication of
numbers.
MULTIPLICATION
What do we mean by Multiplication?

 The basic idea of multiplication is


repeated addition.
 You take one number and add it together
a number of times.
MULTIPLICATION
Example:

5 multiplied by 4 = 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20.

We took the number 5 and added it together


4 times.
This is why multiplication is sometimes
called "times".

Another example:
In solving 2 digit numbers by 1 digit number without
regrouping:
• Multiply the numbers 32 32
in the ones place x3 x3
• multiply 2 ones times 6 96
3 is equals to 6 Ones.
Put the 6 in the ones place
of the product.
• Then multiply 3 tens
times 3 is equals to 9 tens.
Put the 9 in the tens place
of the product.
• And the product is 96.
Multiplication Word Problems:
1. There are 2 boats, each boat carries 25 people in
it. How many passengers do the 2 boats carry in
all?
Multiplication Word Problems:
2. There are 3 buses, each bus carries 23 passengers,
how many passengers do the 3 buses carry in all?
Multiplication Word Problems:
3. An ice cream cone cost ₱20, how much will 5
children spend buying ice cream cones?
Multiplication Word Problems:
4. There are 12 children who bought balloons. Each
child bought 3 balloons. How many balloons in all
did they buy?
Multiplication Word Problems:
5. I bought 2 chocolate bars that cost ₱44 each. How
much is the total cost of the 2 chocolate bars?
