This tense is used for:

• expressing the idea that action started and


finished at a specific time in the past:
Example: In 1991, Mr.Bean and Irma decided to
go to the cinema.

•the actions or events that happened one


after another in the past:
Example:Mr.Bean plugged his ears,wore the
popcorn bag and succeded to calm down.

When we are narrating events in the past
we use past continuous:
•Example: Mr. Bean was treating in a really strange way
and he was trying to scare Irma.
•While they were watching the movie, Mr.Bean
screamed.
