THE STORM AT SEA

ACTS 27:13-26
When a light wind began blowing from the south, the
sailors thought they could make it. So they pulled up
anchor and sailed close to the shore of Crete. But the
weather changed abruptly, a wind of typhoon strength
(called a “northeaster”) burst across the island and blew
us out to the sea. The sailors couldn’t turn the ship into
the wind, so they gave up and let it run before the gale.
We sailed along the sheltered side of a small island
named Cauda, where with great difficulty we hoisted
aboard the lifeboat being towed behind us.
Then the sailors bound ropes around the hull of the ship
to strengthen it. They were afraid of being driven across the
sandbars of Syrtis off the African coast, so they lowered the
sea anchor to slow the ship and were driven before the
wind. The next day, as gale-force winds continued to batter
the ship’s gear and threw it overboard. The terrible storm
raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until
at last all hope was gone. No one had eaten for a long time.
Finally, Paul called the crew together and said, “Men, you
should have listened to me in the first place and not left
Crete. You would have avoided all this damage and loss.
But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even
though the ship will go down. For last night an angel of the
God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me,
and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand
trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in His goodness has
granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take
courage! For I believe God. It will be just as He said. But
we will shipwrecked on an island.

REASONS WHY WE ARE LIVING WITH
UNCERTAINTIES
1. We anticipate things with superiority.
2. We have poor decisions in life.
3. We don’t listen or obey to God’s admonition.

Yet true godliness with contentment is itself
great wealth.
After all, we brought nothing with us when
we came into the world , and we cannot

Have enough food and clothing, let us be content.
God also wants to feed us using His hands.
However, as we grow older, we try
to put things in our own hands. Now, as we
move out from God’s feeding zone, it
becomes uncertain if we will have our
food on our “own” table.
1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18
Be joyful always. Pray continually. Give
thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s
will for you in Christ Jesus.
ACTS 27:33-36
Just as day was dawning, Paul urged everyone
to eat. “You have been so worried that you
haven’t touched food for two weeks, "he said.
“Please eat something now for your own good.
For not a hair of your heads will perish.” Then
he took some bread, gave thanks to God
before them all, and broke of a piece and ate it.
Then everyone was encouraged and began to
eat.

ACTS 27:22
But take courage! None of you will lose your
lives, even though the ship will go down.
As a father, GOD GIVES THE BEST.

1. Look at the flowers of the field. Are they not

beautiful? Who do you think clothes them?
God gives the best for them. (Matthew 6:28)

2. The Bible says, “Not even Solomon (the

richest man) was clothed this way. (Matthew
6:29) As we thirst for riches and fame, they
only make us worry more. Little did we know,
the best comes from God.
Therefore I say to you, do not worry
about your life, what you will eat,
what you will eat or what you will
drink; nor about your body, what
you will put on. Is not life more than
food and the body more than
clothing?
MATTHEW 6:25 NKJV
This is what worry does to you,
“I AM KILLING YOUR TODAY THROUGH
YOUR TOMORROW.” The only reason why
we could not enjoy today is because we are
worried about tomorrow.

Worship is like climbing a mountain. We go up
giving honor to God with our sacrifices,
thanksgiving, and requests. We don’t realize that
when we climb up rejoicing and putting our trust
in Him, He provides His “ram” at the other side
of the mountain. (The other side that we don’t
see at all.) BUT, when we reach the peak with
faith and love, He in turn lavishes us with His
presence and meets us with His provision.
