art!
What is art?
  Art is something that is
created with imagination
and skill and that is beautiful
or that expresses important
ideas or feelings.

 Art is often considered
the process or product of
deliberately arranging
elements and principles
in a way that appeals to
the senses or emotions.

 It encompasses a diverse range
of human activities, creations and
ways of expression, including
music, literature, film, sculpture
and paintings.

 The meaning of art is explored in


a branch of philosophy known as
aesthetics.

representation or replication
of something that is
beautiful or meaningful.

People classify a wide range of
objects as art by general agreement.
Every culture on earth has produced
objects of visual interest, involving
ornamentation, design, picture- making,
and abstraction. Many of these objects
serve no purpose except to feature such
things, and we regard them as art.
Living with Art
The role of art in human life is to
transform man's widest metaphysical
ideas, by selective reproduction of
reality, into a physical form—a work
of art—that he can comprehend and to
which he can respond emotionally.
The Functions of Art
1. Personal Function
Artists create arts to express
personal feelings.

2. Social Function
Artists create to reinforce a
shared sense of identity of community
or civilization.

How do we best understand our
country as Filipinos?

 One way is by looking into


artforms created by
Filipinos, whether famous or
not, or as evidence of the
Filipino soul.
How do we best understand our
country as Filipinos?
 We can better understand the
relationship of arts and
society in the Philippines by
looking at the various themes
that embody the crucial links
between human creativity and
social factors.
 Art is a part of our culture. It
should be given importance by
the people.

 It is the expression of our


creative ideas and imagination,
and brought about
environment, spiritual aspects,
everyday life, technology and
economy.

 The varied topography of the
Philippines (mountain,
lowlands and coastal lands)
continue to influence the
forms of arts that Filipinos
created.

Bahay Kubo- Vernacular Badjao House – adapted to


architecture adapted to the the area where they are

Bahay na Bato -is a type of building
originating during the Philippine’s
Spanish Colonial Period. It is an
updated version of bahay-kubo.
Torogan - is a
traditional house built by
the Maranao people of
Lanao, Mindanao,
Philippines and a
symbol of high social
status. Such a
residence was once a
home to a sultan or Datu
in the Maranao
community.

 Remarkable in disaster-resilient features


and it is adaptable to extreme situations
like earthquakes.

 Society’s belief system which
centered on the concept of gods
and spirits is one of the great
impetus for the creation of art.
 Filipinos successfully integrated
foreign religions like Christianity
into indigenous beliefs making
this assimilation original and
dynamic.

 Pahiyas is the time when people in Lucban, Quezon give
thanks to San Isidro Labrador for a good harvest. 

 Pahiyas means "decor". Every May 15, the fronts pf houses


are are elaborately decorated with brightly colored rice
wafer, called kiping, a type of rice dough made from a
traditional reciipe.

 Filipinos have created their own
sense of faith and the art as shown by
the prevalence of many folk religious
practices that lived today.

 is a Filipino word for "amulet" or "charm".
 also a Filipino system of magic and sorcery
with special use of the above-mentioned
talismans, amulets, and charms.

 The practice of art in the Philippines
is strongly characterized by its
integration into everyday life of the
people.

 When we use our knowledge to
harness resources toward changing
our social environment, we are

essentially computer generated and/or
manipulated.
