The Story
• Main Characters-
• Stanley Yelnats/Caveman: A teenager
who always seems to be in the wrong
place at the wrong time.
• The Warden- A middle aged women
obsessed with locating buried
treasure.
• Kissing Kate Barlow- A criminal
living 110 years before the present,
who robbed many people and buried
her treasures.
• The Boys- X-ray, Armpit, Zero, and The cast of “The Boys”
Magnet. Boys Stanley meets at Camp
Green Lake. from the adapted screen
play of the book.
The Plot
• Stanley stumbles across a pair of
stinky shoes and is excited to get
them home.
• He is arrested for stealing the
shoes.
• Just another case of the Yelnats
curse.
• Stanley is sentenced to 18 months
at Camp Green Lake boys reform.
• Stanley’s new daily activity is to
dig holes 5 ft. wide and 5 ft. deep.

• While attending Berkley he took a class to be a teachers aide, that’s when he realized he like
children.
• Then in 1980 Graduated from Hastings College of the Law.
• Did part time legal work while he continued to write.
• First book was based on his time spent at Hillside Elementary
• Writes for children ages 7 to 15
• Likes to use people in his life for inspiration for his characters.
• Holes was inspired by gardening in the Texas summer heat.
