Suryanamaskaras, or sun salutations, are a series of 12 yoga poses that focus on different chakras in the body. Proper breathing, eye focus, body awareness, gratitude, and slow movement are important aspects of Surya namaskaras. When performed correctly with an ujjayi breath, focused gaze, and calm heart rate, the poses can benefit each chakra and pay homage to the sun for giving life to Earth. A YouTube video by Patanjali Srinivas demonstrates the proper form of Surya namaskaras.

There are only 12 steps of Surya namaskars. The varied steps are of Asthanga Vinyasa. Five important aspects in Surya Namaskar (which we need to attain) : 1.Breathing - Ujjayi breath(Snake hissing sound). 2. Dhrishti - Where your eyes will be focusing. After practice it should be done with closed eyes. 3.Part of body where we should focus. As every step has different benefit on different chakra, hence its important to focus on those point. 4.Gratitude towards Sun to give life to this planet earth. Hence we recite twelve names of Surya with each asanas. 5.Do as slow as possible and stay in each pose. It should be done at a speed that heart beat remains as calm as possible.
