UNIT 4: TYPES OF BIOREACTORS

 Reactor Types
We can breakdown all the bioreactors into 3
main types:
a) Reactor that utilized internal mechanical
agitation
b) Bubble columns: Uses Gas sparging for agitation
c) Loop Reactors: Mixing and liquid circulation
due to either injected gas or mechanical pump or
both

All three deals with Three-phase reactions

Stirred tank Reactors
Bubble Columns
Loop or Airlifted Reactors
Fluidized Bed Bioreactors
Packed Bed Bioreactors
Photo-Bioreactor
