ZOONOTIC VIRUS
• Zoonosis is another name for a zoonotic disease. This type
of disease passes from an animal or insect to a human.
Some don’t make the animal sick but will sicken a human.
• Zoonotic diseases range from minor short-term illness to a
major life-changing illness. Certain ones can even cause
death.
TYPES OF ZOONOTIC VIRUSES
• The types of zoonosis include those caused by:
• a virus
• bacteria
• fungus
• parasites
• Zoonotic diseases spread by mosquitos and ticks are some of the
most serious of these diseases.

• anthrax
• bird flu
• bovine tuberculosis
• brucellosis
• Campylobacter infection
• cat scratch fever
• cryptosporidiosis
• cysticercosis

PREVENTION TIPS OF ZOONOTIC
• People can come in contact with animals in many places. This includes at home and away from home, in
many places like petting zoos, fairs, schools, stores and parks. Thankfully, there are things you can do to
protect yourself and your family from zoonotic diseases.
 By keeping our hands clean and washing frequently.
 By preventing bites from mosquitos, ticks and flea
 By avoiding bites and scratches from animals
 By learning ways to handle food safely
 By knowing simple things we can do to stay safe around our pets.
Awareness regarding the dangers of pet
animals having zoonotic viruses.
• Worldwide, dogs and cats are the two most common household companion
animals. Because of this, they can be direct or indirect sources of many home
infections. Fortunately, most of this zoonotic diseases can be clinically
prevented by appropriate prophylactic interventions.
