WORK DIVERSION PLAN WZTMP
Diversion steps for Toll plaza works

Step 1 – One traffic equipment vehicle and one shadow vehicle shall be on the shoulder side of diversion. Traffic Equipment
vehicle shall be in front and shadow vehicle at the back. Shadow vehicle shall be 50-100M behind the traffic vehicle.
Step 2 – “Men at work along with 60KMPH speed limit” board shall be placed at a distance of 500M ahead of entry transition
zone (point A1) on the shoulder side.
Step 3 – “Traffic diversion ahead” board shall be placed at a distance of 320M ahead of entry transition zone (point A1)on the
shoulder side.
Step 4 – “30KMPH speed Limit” is installed at a distance of 160M ahead of entry transition zone (point A1) on the shoulder
side.
Step 5 – “Hazard marker with traffic diversion” board shall be placed on the shoulder side at the start of entry transition zone
(at point A1).
Step 6 – “Men at work”” board shall be placed a distance of 500M ahead of entry transition zone (point A1) in median.
Step 7 – “60KMPH speed limit” board shall be placed at a distance of 400M ahead of entry transition zone (point A1).
Step 8 – Both vehicle shall move to the fast lane and position at a distance of 50-100M between each other.
Step 9 – “Men at work along with 60KMPH speed limit” board shall be placed at a distance of 500M ahead of entry transition
zone (point A1) on the median side.
Step 10 - . “Traffic diversion ahead” board shall be placed at a distance of 320M ahead of entry transition zone (point A1)on the
median side.
Step 11 - “30KMPH speed Limit” is installed at a distance of 160M ahead of entry transition zone (point A1) on the median side.
Step 12 - “Hazard marker with traffic diversion” board shall be placed on the median side at the start of entry transition zone
(at point A1).

Diversion steps for Toll Plaza works

Step 13 – Both vehicles shall place itself at a distance of 50-100M between them in the lane which is to be diverted.
Step 14 – Traffic vehicle shall move forward and unload cones required for creating entry taper zone. As per IRC for
100KMPH road, we shall make a entry taper of 80M. Distance between cones shall be 1.5M.
Step 15 – Once cones are placed, workers shall descend from vehicle to make the taper.
Step 16 – Now both vehicles shall place itself at a distance of 50-100M between them in the second lane which is to be
diverted.
Step 17 - Traffic vehicle shall move forward and unload cones required for creating entry taper zone. As per IRC for
100KMPH road, we shall make a entry taper of 80M. Distance between cones shall be 1.5M.
Step 18 - Once cones are placed, workers shall descend from vehicle to make the taper.
Step 19 – Hazard marker sign shall be provided at the start of entry transition zone. Diversion arrows shall be placed 40M
from the point A1 facing side of traffic. (on both the tapers) Hazard marker sign shall be placed at the start of the work
zone. Dummy flagman shall be placed at point A1.
Step 20 – Now work team shall plan for placing New Jersey barrier with the help of lifting equipment.
Step 21 – Traffic vehicle shall move on the other side of the work zone and unload cones required for creating exit taper.
Exit taper distance is 72M with a cone to cone distance of 1.5M. Shadow vehicle shall remain ahead of the work zone in
the lane where traffic vehicle unload cones.
Step 22 – Workers descend and place cones for exit taper. Required signs (Work traffic ends) shall be placed on either side
of the taper (40M for point A1).
Step 23 – Both the vehicles shall move forward and place end of work zone board 105M ahead of the exit taper zone (B1)

Note:

1. All sign boards shall comply with IRC 67-2012 regulations & IRC SP:55-2014. All signage shall be in English and also
in vernacular language. The same sequence is to be followed on the other side of the median.

The resources required for this set up would be 1 – Traffic Equipment vehicle and 1 – Shadow vehicle. (Minimum weight
of 4.5T)

NJB – as required (as per IRC SP 55, 5.2.7)
