 SPEECH WRITING

• Speech Writing is an art of conveying a message to your

audience. Either through oral communication or through other
means, such as powerpoint slides, speech writing has the same
function as normal writing. The reasons for writing are to
inform, to explain or to persuade.

1. Information sheet- A collection of data from reliable

published sources that you may need to support your points
in the speech.
2. Interview recap- A collection of notes from the interviews
you have conducted
3. Statement of purpose- two or five sentences that state the
main ideas, aims, and desired outcomes of the speech.

• Analyzing the audience
• - In your speech preparation you should know your audience
their gender, their education, their religion, their culture , their
geographic uniqueness, and even group affiliation because the
more you know the demographic profile of your audience the
more you speech becomes more intersting
• Sourcing the information- anything that might informs a
person about something on provide knowledge to somebody.
• Outlining and organizing the speech context
• -Outlines, or textual arrangements of all the various elements
of a speech, are a very common way of organizing a speech
before it is delivered. Most extemporaneous speakers keep
their outlines with them during the speech as a way to ensure
that they do not leave out any important elements and to keep
them on track.
