PRINCIPLES OF
GROWTH AND

This principle describes the
direction of growth and development.
The head region starts growth at first,
following by which other organs
starts developing.
PRINCIPLES OF
GROWTH AND

2. Proximodistal
The spinal cord develops before
outer parts of the body. The child’s
arms develops before the hands, the
hands and feet develops before the
fingers and toes.
PRINCIPLES OF
GROWTH AND
DEVELOPMENT
3. Orthogenic
This means that development of
more difficult tasks begins with the
mastery of simple tasks first. In other
words, one stage of development lays
the foundation for the next stage
of development.
WHEN DO YOU THINK
MAN STARTED
THINKING ABOUT THEIR
OWN DEVELOPMENT?
PLATO

building character, as
much as, intelligence is
what education is all
about.
CONFUCIUS
The great Chinese being
will always desire to
become the “superior man”,
not just to his peers and
followers, bit to himself.
RELIGIONS
It influenced the way of life
of people in terms of self-
discipline, meditation,
prayers, physical exercise
and creative acts of
expression.
