Geographic Information System

A geographic information system is a conceptualized


framework that provides the ability to capture and analyze
spatial and geographic data.
Remote sensing
Remote sensing is the science of obtaining information about
objects or areas from a distance, typically from aircraft or
satellites.

OR

Remote sensing is the acquisition of information about an


object or phenomenon without making physical contact with
the object and thus in contrast to on-site observation,
especially the Earth.

• Latitude is an angle (defined below) which ranges from 0° at
the Equator to 90° (North or South) at the poles.

• Longitude is the measurement east or west of the prime


meridian. Longitude is measured by imaginary lines that run
around the Earth vertically (up and down) and meet at the
North and South Poles.
