The document summarizes an EFKON toll collection solution. The solution utilizes a client-server architecture, with the server machine hosting the application and database. Client machines at each toll lane access the application via a browser to process toll transactions using connected hardware like smart card readers. The hardware converts raw sensor data and interfaces with the client machines. The solution generates reports, processes transactions and raw traffic data, and allows for auditing of toll operations.

• The Solution provided should be able to provide the following Functionality : • Semi Automatic and ETC toll collection. • Processing of Raw Traffic Data. • Cash up Process. • Audit of Toll Collection operation. • Smart card related operations • Generation of various reports for different administration level. Architecture of the Solution • The solution will be implemented utilizing the client – server architecture. Which inturn would help in the effective communication between all the devices. • The Solution involves three parts: • Server Machine • Client Machine • Hardware Devices • Where the server machine is the one where the Application is deployed and the client machines are the one used by the toll collectors at each Lane. Total solution Overview • The below is the setup that is required for the deployment of the solution.
• Where the software does all the functionality required for
report generation, processing raw traffic data, Audit etc., Server Machine • This machine is the one which is managed by the plaza administrator or manager. • The software solution will be deployed in this machine and then published to all the client machine. Where the client machine sends HTTP requests and get the query done by server. • This server machine has its own database server from it gets the required data for the client application. Client Machine • The client machines are the one used by the toll collectors at each lane. This machines will access the application deployed at server application trough browser. • This machine is directly connected to the hardware devices such as • Smart card reader. • Barcode reader. • Other devices like receipt printer etc., • This sends the HTTP request to the server and gets the query done by it and get back the result via HTTP response. Hardware Devices • The hardware devices can be the barcode readers, Smart card readers, Receipt printers, AVC sensors etc., • Where some are used to convert the raw traffic data into the information required by the software i.e. AVC sensor is used to classify the vehicle in lane area depending on its height. • The devices like user fare display are used to display the fare value to he vehicle user. • Barcode readers are used for the day pass of the user (Multiple trips) and smart card readers are for monthly pass of the user. Interfacing the Hardware • For interfacing the hardware like sensors or any other device that cannot be directly connected to the client machine, there involves the usage of some embedded hardware. • This embedded hardware will perform the operation of converting the raw data from the sensor into the format that is comprehensive for the user or the client machine. Possibility of the Solution • It can generate all kinds of reports with metrics for different level of managerial review. • Software is capable of interfacing with hardware that is connected to the PC provided it should have a access of it. • The images taken by the camera can also be integrated into the software. • The software can perform operation related to smart card, barcode reader and any other sensor. • It can process the raw traffic data into the information understood by the user and also capable of doing the cash up process. Advantages of the solution • It is independent of the operating system what is running on the client machine provided the machine should have a browser installed on it. • The applications is accessible from anywhere within the LAN, required the PC should have a browser. • Software uses a high end encryption algorithm for the password storage. Which avoids the unauthorized user to access the system. • After the deployment of the solution the user intervention is required to some extent. Thank You
