Morphological anomalies of circulating blood cells were observed in patients with COVID-19. Red blood cells showed echinocytes, burr cells, and schistocytes. White blood cells showed reactive lymphocytes with azurophilic granules, monocytes with Döhle-like and pseudopodia-like structures, and atypical lymphocytes. These findings indicate hematological abnormalities may occur due to COVID-19 infection.
