Some great mechanical engineers
Aviation engineering
Abbas ibn Firnas (809/810 – 887 A.D.), an Andalusian engineer, was
reported to have experimented with a form of flight.

He made various contributions in the

field of astronomy and engineering. He
constructed a device which indicated the
motion of the planets and stars in the
Universe.

In addition, Ibn Firnas came up with a

procedure to manufacture colorless glass
and made magnifying lenses for reading,
which were known as reading stones.

Some great mechanical engineers
Automation, Robotics, Mechanisms
Ismāil al-Jazarī (1136–1206 AD), was an inventor, mechanical engineer
, and mathematician from Jazira in Mesopotamia.

Al-Jazari invented various machines

for raising water, as well as
watermills and water wheels with
cams on their axle used to operate
automata, in the 12th and 13th
centuries.

It was in these water-raising

machines that he introduced his
most important ideas and
components.
