 KHILAFAT MOVEMENT AND ITS IMPACTS ON THE
MUSLIMS OF SOUTH ASIA
BACKGROUND
 Khilafat movement was started by ali brothers Moulana
Muhammad Ali Johar and Maulana shoukat Ali Johar.
 Turkey took part in turco-Italian war,Balkan war and World war 1
in which khilafat seems to be collapsed.
 The khilafat movement was the major movement started to serve
ottoman empire and it is further extended to india against birtish
rule.
3  The Ali brothers united many muslim leaders on support of
ottoman empire and protest against the birtish rule in india.
 The leader of khilafat movement and indian national congress come
together and form an alliance to support eachother.

GOALS OF MOVEMENT
 Ottoman empire should be keep intact
 To maintain the unity of ottoman empire
 To protect the holy places of muslims.

IMPACTS ON THE MUSLIMS OF SOUTH ASIA
 The khilafat movement crystallized anti birtish sentments among
indian muslims.
 Hindu muslim unity was short lived.
 The khilafat movement cultivated a new outlook among the
muslims not to rely on the other supports.
 Many Muslims had given up their jobs and students had given up
their education as boycott in 1920
 Owing to some violent incident in country this movement cause the
5 death of many peoples eg chauri-chaura and migration to
Afghanistan.
  It was proven that Muslims and Hindus could not work together.
  It made Muslims politically conscious.
 It destroyed the myth of Muslims loyalty to the British

Every movement against the British rule left its good as well as bad
effects on the people. After Khilafat Movement Muslims of the Sub-
continent become united, strong and conscious about their separate
identity which led them towards final destination. This was the real
credit which Muslims derived from Khilafat Movement.
