This document summarizes several in vitro drug interactions. It shows that ceftriaxone sodium forms a precipitate when mixed with lactated Ringer's solution due to calcium in Ringer's solution. Daptomycin forms a precipitate when mixed with dextrose solution but is compatible with 0.9% saline and lactated Ringer's solution. Piperacillin-tazobactam forms particles or changes color when mixed with select drugs. Cefepime degradation can increase up to 25% when mixed with theophylline. The document warns that ceftriaxone should not be used in neonates due to the risk of fatal precipitates.

• Neonates with hyperbilirubinemia, especially premature
infants, should not be treated with ceftriaxone. • In vitro studies : ceftriaxone can displace bilirubin from binding to serum albumin, potentially leading to bilirubin encephalopathy. • Fatal reactions : ceftriaxone-calcium precipitates in the lungs and kidneys of neonates. • Do not mix Ceftriaxone with calcium-containing products (Ringer's or Hartmann's solution).
