What is Matter?
All substances are made of
matter. Matter is anything
that has mass, or weight, and
takes up space.

Liquids
Gases
Examples of solid objects
include:

Examples of Liquids include:

● Water

Liquids ● Juice

● Oil
A liquid takes the shape of its
container. ● milk

● Gasoline
Examples of gases include:

● Air

Gases ● Steam from boiling water

● Smoke
A gas is a substance that behaves
like the air around us. ● Exhaust
Changes States and
Temperature
1. The states of matter can change
between solid, liquid, and gas.

2. For example: butter (solid) melting on


hot toast, Ice (Solid) melting into
Water (Liquid), boiling water (liquid)
evaporating to steam (gas).
