FAIR USE GUIDELINES
Fair Use – refers to the copying of
copyrighted material, with the purpose of using it
for the review, commentary, critic, or parody,
without the need to ask permission from the
copyright owner.

Parody – refers to a work which ridicules


another in a funny, inoffensive, and non-
derogatory manner

What is Intellectual Property?
Intellectual property (IP) refers to
creations of the mind, such as
inventions; literary and artistic
works; designs; and symbols, names
and images used in commerce

Trade secrets refers to specific,
private information that is important to a
business because it gives the business a
competitive advantage in its marketplace.
If a trade secret is acquired by another
company, it could harm the original
holder.
Copyright –
it is protected by law
and cannot just be
used and reproduced
without permission.
Patent -  is the
granting of a
property right by a
sovereign authority
to an inventor
TRADEMARK - is a type of
intellectual property consisting of
a recognizable sign, design, or
expression which identifies
products or services of a
particular source from those of
others, although trademarks used
to identify services are usually
called service marks
PLAGIARISM - the practice
of taking someone else's
work or ideas and passing
them off as one's own.
NETIQUETTE - the correct
or acceptable way of
communicating on the
internet.

AS AN INTERNET USER
WITH NETIQUTTE
1.Observe politeness when responding to or sending messages.
2.When you receive a messages, especially if it from your
superior at work or client, it would be polite to reply
urgently.
3.Review first the intended message before sending it so that
you can be sure that it is the exact message that you want to
convey.
4.As a sign of respect, do not send spam or chain messages to
your list of contacts.
5.Ask permission first before sharing someone’s personal post,
photo, and video on social media, as this could violate the
person’s right to privacy.
DIGITAL DIVIDE -
is a term that refers to the
gap between demographics
and regions that have access
to modern information and
communications technology,
and those that don't or have
restricted access
VIRTUAL SELF –
pertains to one’s
representation in the
virtual world, which exist
online and is only
available once a person is
connected to internet.
EMOJIS or EMOTICONS–
An emoticon, short for "emotion
icon", also known simply as an
emote, is a pictorial representation of
a facial expression using characters—
usually punctuation marks, numbers,
and letters—to express a person's
feelings or mood, or as a time-saving
method

THE INTERNET
In these modern times, more and more people
are being inclined in using social media such
as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. They
tend to neglect their responsibilities and more
important needs due to their obsession with
such social networking sites.
Internet and Computer Addiction – refers to a
condition in which person seems to have lost
control over an action or behavior, which mental
health practitioners deemed as self-destructive.

Crimes – is defined as
vulnerabilities related to
on-line activities arising
from various computing
and internet activities
