Definition of Poetry
Paraphrase :
The poet tells us that in winter, he gets up too
early in the morning. It is still dark. He has to
use some candles to get dressed.
On the contrary, in summer, the sun doesn’t set
until late at night. He has to go to bed although
it is still day light.
I have to go to bed and see
Paraphrase :
The poet tells us that he has to go to bed
early in the summer when the sky is clear
and blue. He watches the birds jumping on
the trees then. He listens clearly to footsteps
of people walking by his window in the
street.
And does it not seem hard to you,
Paraphrase:
The poet says that it seems too hard and
painful for him to go to bed when the sky is
is clear and blue and it is still day light. He
wants to play and enjoy himself. He doesn’t
like to go to bed early.

Rhetorical question:
The poet asked a question and didn’t need an answer, but
he wanted the reader to agree with him about difficultly
of what he feels.
