1. What is the Internet?

The Internet:

The Internet is an open world-wide


communication network, linking countless
computer networks through a mixture of private
and public telephone lines.

WWW:

WWW is the short form of the World Wide Web.


It is a collection of linked documents, or pages,
that span the Internet.

What is E-commerce?

In a narrow sense (or verbal meaning):


Electronic commerce is defined as the use of
electronic transmission mediums
(telecommunications) to engage in the exchange,
including buying and selling, of products and
services requiring transportation, either
physically or digitally, from location to location.

In a broad sense:
E-commerce can also be defined as any kind of business-
related activity—transaction of tangible goods or
intangible goods taking place over a computer network.
At the same time, it provides internal and external
efficiencies for firms, their partners and suppliers, and
customers. Meanwhile, it creates value by managing
information and developing customer relationships that
extend beyond a simple, cut-and-dried transaction.
