workers and management to help them conduct
their actions in accordance with its primary values
and ethical standards.
Unethical behavior
Is an action that falls outside of what is considered
morally right or proper for a person, a profession or
an industry. Individuals can behave unethically, as
can businesses, professionals and politicians.
Examples of Unethical Behavior
• Exploiting workers
• Over-billing customers.
• Exploiting tax loopholes.
• Dumping toxins into the air or water.
• Prescribing unnecessary medical
procedures.
• Covering up car defects.
• Designing phones so that users accidentally
accept data charges.
• Creating fake identities.
Some common examples of unethical
or illegal activity include:

• Accounting or auditing irregularities

• Fraud, waste, or abuse

• Improper dealings with customers or vendors
• Sale or possession of illicit controlled substances
How do unethical practices affect
business?
Among the worst effects of unethical behavior
on business is that a company is unable to
forge or maintain any long-term relationships
with customers. Such a poor work
environment would lead to a drop in
productivity, lowered morale and employee
attrition, which would lead to the downfall of
the company.
Ethical policies
are guidelines for all employees of a
company to do the right thing and
behave at high standards at all times.
Good ethical policies create a good
culture based on trust and
transparency
