 Benefits of CSR to the bank.

 Health, Education, environment sectors are the core areas that Bank of
Kathmandu is focusing for CSR activities.
 Apart from the profit making financial institution must contribute to the
various social obligations & Responsibility.
Background Of The Study
 Corporate social responsibility is also Known as the corporate citizenship.
 Corporate social responsibility is obligations of the organization towards
society.
 The concept of corporate social responsibility has become popular from
1960’s.
 The significance of CSR is not only applicable in the profitable
organization but also in the INGOS, NGOS,& public sectors.
 In traditional way companies make profits, then they donate a certain
amount of share to the charitable causes, which is consider as CSR.
 Today business are more focused on operating the business in socially
responsible manner by investing in the community development.

Literature Review of CSR
 Concept of CSR is initiated in the 1950’s in USA.

 During 1980’s to 2000, corporations recognized and started accepting


responsibilities towards society.

 Davis (1960), social responsibility is a nebulous idea but should be seen in


a managerial context.

 Windsor (2001),articles examined the future of CSR. The researcher tried


to find out that weather the organization and society will come closer or
not.

 Gond, Crane (2008) made an analysis on the distortion of corporate
social performance concept.

 Truscott, Bartlett, Trwoniak (2009), paper “The reputation of Corporate


Social Responsibility in industry in Australia” in Australian Marketing
journal, based on case study methodology.

 Mc William & S. Seigal (2010) provided the importance of CSR as a


strategy of enhancing reputation of companies.

 The importance's of CSR to organization are : helps in building cordial


relationship with various stakeholders. Helps in building image among
general public, helps in differentiating organization from other.

 Overall construction, arrangement & frame designed in order to follow the
actual position relating to this study.
 Methodology used in this study is based on survey and exploratory type.
 The research design used for this study is descriptive cum survey type.
 This study is based on through inquiry of the factual status of the CSR of
Bank of Kathmandu.

b. The sampling
 The population for this study consists of total number of employees,
board of directors, management & all stakeholders.
 The CSR activity of 4 years was studied as a sample.

 Well known name in banking sector established in 1995 AD.
 Delivering good service to customers, return to shareholders,
attractive incentives to employee & serving the community as a
whole.
 Objective of pushing the Nepalese economy to new heights.
 Offers different deposits such as fixed, saving, current & various
loans as housing, vehicle, education & personnel loans.
 50 branches with 58 ATM installed in various parts of the country
 The vision of BOK is to become a significant contributor to the
economic development of Nepal.

Conclusion
 CSR is one of the most important trends followed by many
organizations today.
 BOK has realized that in order to gain long term profitability
and sustainability it needs to be engaged in various CSR
activities.
 BOK has been frequently involved in health, education,
environment protection and local heritage protection.
 It has also increased the awareness of Banking knowledge and
ideas among general public and citizens.
 BOK has been making various cash donations and is being
engaged in various awareness events for the protection of social
interest and environment.
Recommendation
 
 Periodic review of CSR related activities to know its
development and problem areas.
 BOK Follows same CSR activities over the year, so it should
try to diversify its CSR activities.
 Direct its CSR activities towards its employee.
 The Concept and significance of CSR must be integrated with
overall company’s vision, mission, objective and strategy
 The concept of social auditing must also be integrated in
overall auditing activities.
