Virtual reality is best described as an
experience that envelopes most
major senses such as sight, hearing,
and touch.
Although this technology is not new, it
has only just started making appearances
into classrooms and libraries.
Virtual Reality when used for
special education

• Expands on Core building blocks


• Allows self help practice in safety
• Allows safe interaction using real life
simulations
• Focuses on Joint Attention allowing even
those who are non-verbal to interact
Pros of Virtual Technology

• You do not need to have any technology experience in


order to use the programs

• Allows the user to experience the world in new ways

• Gives users the ability to experience different things


without much risk

• Adaptive learning can be added into the virtual


environment
Cons of Virtual Reality

• Unless you have the equipment such as a Virtual


reality headset programs are not available

• There is less human interaction

• It is thought that the technology will lesson the need


for educators in classroom enviornments
