WACS Data Consolidation & Analysis

LGOO V MIRIAM T. TAN

DILG Regional Office 02
1. To sanitize the WACS data

2. To present WACS data in tabular and graphical

form

3. To compute needed data for the ESWM plan

Consolidation of WACS Data and
computation of :
•Percentage Composition of Waste by Classification

•Percentage of waste disposed/generated by sector

•Per capita waste generation per day

Summarizing the Survey Questionnaire
•Current waste management practices of the LGU

- methods of disposal
- waste diversion practices

•Volume of waste diversion

- composting
- re-use, recycling or sale of recyclable materials
SWM Practices Percentage (%)

Segregation-at –source

Reuse/Recycling

Composting
SWM Practices Volume Percentage (%)

Sell to Junkshops

• Dry paper/cartons

• Bottles

• Plastic containers
WACS Data Analysis
•Compute for the Disposed Waste
(Tabular & Graphical presentation of WACS Results)

•Compute for the Diverted Waste

(Tabular & Graphical presentation of SQ Results)

•Compute for the Generated Waste

(Generated Waste = Disposed Waste + Diverted Waste)
WACS Data Analysis
•Compute for the Waste Projection
(2011-2020)

Projected Waste = per capita WG x population

Liter to cubic meter conversion:
1 liter = 0.001 m³
Example:
Convert 25 liters to cubic meters.
Solution:
1 liter = 25 liters
0.001 m³ m³
m³ = 25 (0.001)
Answer = 0.025 m³
Formula: m³ = volume in liters x 0.001
Kilograms to cubic meter conversion:
1 liter = 0.96 kilograms
1 liter = 0.001 m³
Applying the Property of Real Numbers: N = N
We can deduce that, 0.96 kilograms = 0.001 m³
In converting 1000 kilograms to cubic meters, we have:
0.96 kgs = 1000 kgs
0.001 m³ = m³
m³ (0.96 kgs) = 0.001 m³ (1000 kgs)
m³ = 0.001 m³ (1000 kgs)
0.96 kgs
m³ = 1.04

Formula: m³ = (Weight in Kgs x 0.001)/ 0.96

= (Weight in Kgs x 0.1) / 96
Computing Data Needed for other chapters of the Plan:
•Chapter 6 - Targets

1. Rate of waste diversion in ten years

2. Projected Waste Diversion Targets in cubic meters
3. Projected Waste Disposal Targets in cubic meters

•Chapter 8 – Diversion Projections

1. Types & Percentages on materials to be diverted
