Population Growth In Delhi And Sikkim
 Delhi is the capital of India and largest metropolitan city, As per the estimates of UN World
Population Prospects, Delhi population in 2020 is 30.2 million (3 crores) with in the National
Capital Region(NCR) and is located in the Northern part. As per the NCT, National Capital
Territory and delineates geographical boundaries of Delhi, By the mid of year 2020 the
population is projected to be 18,710,922 as per Unique Identification Aadhar India, updated 31,
May 2020.

 As per details from Census 2011, Sikkim has


population of 6.11 Lakhs, an increase from figure of
5.41 Lakh in 2001 census. Total population of Sikkim
as per 2011 census is 610,577 of which male and
female are 323,070 and 287,507 respectively. In 2001,
total population was 540,851 in which males were
288,484 while females were 252,367. The total
population growth in this decade was 12.89 percent
while in previous decade it was 32.98 percent. The
population of Sikkim forms 0.05 percent of India in
2001, the figure was 0.05 percent. Recently as per
Sikkim census data, 64.48% houses are owned while
30.55% were rented. In all, 71.38% couples in Sikkim
lived in single family.
What Do You Mean By Literacy?

The ability to read and write & competence or knowledge in a specified


area. Definition: The term's meaning has been expanded to include the
ability to use language, numbers, images and other means to
understand and use the dominant symbol systems of a culture. The
concept of literacy is expanding in OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-
operation and Development ) countries to include skills to access
knowledge through technology and ability to assess complex contexts.
LITERACY RATE OF DELHI
● In urban population, the literacy rate is 79.9 % at the
national level. Many States/Uts have achieved literacy rate
higher than the national average. These are Kerala,
Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Goa, and Delhi, which have achieved
literacy rate in the range of 88 % to 96 %.As per details from
Census 2011, Delhi has population of 1.68 Crores, an increase
from figure of 1.39 Crore in 2001 census. Total population of
Delhi as per 2011 census is 16,787,941 of which male and
female are 8,987,326 and 7,800,615 respectively. In 2001, total
population was 13,850,507 in which males were 7,607,234
while females were 6,243,273. The total population growth in
this decade was 21.21 percent while in previous decade it was
46.31 percent. The population of Delhi forms 1.39 percent of
India in 2011. In 2001, the figure was 1.35 percent.Recently as
per Delhi census data, 68.23% houses are owned while
28.18% were rented.

•Sex ratio is a very important demographic indicator for
analyzing the socio-
economic features of a population. It is the ratio of females
per thousand males. As
per 2011 Census, the sex ratio of Delhi was 868.During the
last decade, the sex
ratio in Delhi increased from 821 in 2001 to 868 in 2011. In
order to overcome this
critical situation both at the national and state level, various
stringent actions
against female foeticide and the complete abolition of sex
determination practices
during pregnancy period have been introduced and
implemented. The district-wise
sex ratio of NCT Delhi in 2001and 2011 is presented in
Statement 2.4.
GENDER RATE OF Sikkim
 The demographic trend in Sikkim of 2011 census
has revealed that the sex ratio in Sikkim stands at 889
females per thousand males as against 940 at national
level (2011 census). As per 2011 census women
constitutes 47 % of the total state population.
 Sex Ratio in Sikkim is 890 i.e. for each 1000 male,
which is below national average of 940 as per census
2011. In 2001, the sex ratio of female was 875 per
1000 males in Sikkim.

 The Sikkim census of 2011 says population of


Sikkim is the least in all of India. This thinly populated
state has apopulation of mere 6 lacs, and has grown by
approximately one lac since the last census.

 The state of Sikkim is also the second smallest state in India, and thus, the population density
here isn't as low asyou'd expect it to be. The density is less than 100 in Sikkim, and has
undergone significant increment the population growth rate is another factor indicating the
population status in Sikkim the growth rate of population has considerably reduced to just
above 10% percentage of literate however has increased by about 20% which is a huge leap
towards progress increase in female literacy also tells and optimistic story

➢ The average number of births per day in Delhi


worked out to 1,024 in 2014 as compared to 1,014 in
2013,” Mr. Sisodia said, adding that the infant
mortality rate per thousand live births was found to
have reduced from 22.37 in 2013 to 21.66 in 2014.In
2015, birth rate for NCT of Delhi was 16.4 births per
1000 inhabitants. Birth rate of NCT of Delhi fell
gradually from 18.1 births per 1000 inhabitants in
2009 to 16.4 births per 1000 inhabitants in 2015. The
number of births registered in Delhi in 2014 was 3.74
lakh compared to 3.7 lakh in 2013 and 3.6 lakh in
2012.
BIRTH RATE OF SIKKIM

❖ In 2015, birth rate for Sikkim was 17 births


per 1000 inhabitants. Between 2009 and
2015, birth rate of Sikkim was declining at a
moderating rate to shrink from 18.1 births
per 1000 inhabitants in 2009 to 17 births per
1000 inhabitants in 2015.
PER CAPITA INCOME OF DELHI
● The per capita income of Delhi is estimated to be ₹3,89,143 in 2019-20, which is about three
times the national average, which is estimated to be ₹1,34,432 in 2019-20, according to the
Economic Survey of Delhi 2019-20 tabled in the Delhi Assembly on Monday.Also, the
contribution of Delhi to the national GDP has increased from 3.97% in 2014-15 to 4.20 % in
2019-20 though population of Delhi is only 1.49% of the India’s population.The advance
estimate of Gross State Domestic Product [GSDP] of Delhi at current prices during 2019-20 is
likely to attain level of 8,56,112 crore, at a growth of 10.48% over 2018-19,”

● According to the survey, Delhi has maintained its


consistent revenue surplus which was ₹6,261
crore during 2018-19 as compared to ₹4,913
crore during 2017-18.Also, per capita
expenditure on health in Delhi has increased
from ₹1,996 in the year 2014-15 to ₹3,044 in
2018-19. “South Delhi district has the highest
forest cover area of 84.63 sq. km, and the lowest
forest cover is in East Delhi of 3.75sq.km
PER CAPITA INCOME OF SIKKIM
Estimated per capita income across the
north-eastern state of Sikkim in India stood
at around 358 thousand Indian rupees in the
financial year 2019. There was a consistent
increase in the income per capita in the
state and was more than twice, since the
financial year 2012. Per capita income
across Sikkim in India from financial year
2012 to 2017, with estimates until
2019Among the northeastern states, with a
per capita income of Rs 3.17 lakh, Sikkim Sikkim is followed by Tripura with Rs 1.54
