What is distillation?

 Distillation is the technique used to separate pure liquid from a solid-liquid or a

liquid-liquid mixture.
 The two main processes involved in this technique are vaporization and
condensation.
 It is a physical separation process not a chemical one.
 It is an effective and traditional method of desalination.
 An installation used for distillation, especially distillated beverages is called
distillery.
 Distillation may result in essentially complete separation, or it may be a partial
separation that increases the concentration of selected components in the mixture
