Why do we use microscopes
• To view the very small in size specimens that can not be
seen with the naked eye such as organs, germs and
bacteria.

• To magnify tiny objects, sometimes up to 100 times


larger.

• Check if sample is cancerous

Today→ looking at samples of cells and nerves, arteries and veins.

Don’t use the blue objectives

• Coarse adjustment knob (bigger circle on side) →
Zooms in and out

• Fine Adjustment knob (smaller circle on side) →

How to hold a microscope
Safety & hygiene
• Carry with two hands
• disinfect
• Wipe down lense piece only after each person
• Don’t use the blue objective
• Be careful not to drop the glass slides (samples)
