Instructor, EDUC112 What comes to your mind when you hear the word “LEARNING”? LEARNING The first thing that comes to our mind is studying subjects or courses like Mathematics, Science, and languages in the school. It extends much more beyond the confines of the classroom or the school. The goal of education is to effect learning among students and the population at large. It connotes observed changes in a person as a result of environmental events and interventions. It aims to ensure that as students go up the ladder, developmental changes in their personality are effected. NATURE OF LEARNING The definition of learning covers the following elements: 1. It is a long-term change (though it does not necessarily last forever). 2. The change is brought about by experience. 3. It does not include changes that are physiological like maturation, mental illness, fatigue, hunger or the like. 4. It involves mental representation or association, presumably, it has its basis in the brain. TYPES OF LEARNING Motor Learning Verbal Learning Concept Learning Discrimination Learning Learning of Principles Problem Solving Attitude Learning THANK YOU.
