MOTIVATION BEHIND THE PROJECT

 Now a days everything is using electricity for its function like electric cars, this will
produce shortage of electricity in our country. It will help in reducing deficiency in
our country.

 We can use this system as a secondary source in our industry this will also use as to
reduce in cost of electricity.

 It will help us in our backup system.

OBJECTIVE & SCOPE OF STUDY

 The main objective of this project is to provide an alternative power solution for

remote locations such as research areas and small villages. Also the system can be
used as a temporary power solution for locations affected by natural disasters. In
order to reach these objectives the product must be low cost and easy to manufacture.

 To produce cheap electricity for household and industrial usage from renewable

resources.

OBJECTIVE & SCOPE OF STUDY

 Our aim is to produce energy without damaging our environment so that we can

overcome the deficiency of electricity.

 To design and implement a magnetic levitated vertical axis frictionless wind turbine.

 We will use both solar energy and wind energy to produce hybrid power generation.

LITERATURE REVIEW

 The solar tracking system comprises of a solar panel, Arduino microcontroller

and sensors. For this system to operate there must be emission of light through
the sun. The LDRs serve as the sensors to detect the intensity of light entering
the solar panels.[4]
 Magnetic levitation is a method by which an object is suspended without any
support with the help of the strong magnetic field. The repulsive force of
magnets used for reduction of effect of gravitational force significantly. By this
implementation of this vertical axis wind turbine is used for having negligible
friction and there by the wind turbine starts rotating at lower wind speeds[3].

LITERATURE REVIEW
 The wind and solar energy are omnipresent, freely available, and
environmental friendly. The wind energy systems may not be technically
viable at all sites because of low wind speeds and being more unpredictable
than solar energy.
 The combined utilization of these renewable energy sources are therefore
becoming increasingly attractive and are being widely used as alternative of
oil- produced energy.[2]
 A renewable hybrid energy system consists of two or more energy
sources, a power conditioning equipment, a controller and an optional
energy storage system. These hybrid energy systems are becoming popular
in remote area power generation applications due to advancements in
renewable energy technologies and substantial rise in prices of petroleum
products[1]. 11/4/2020 6

DESIGN PARAMETERS
• The proposed hybrid power generation consists of
two parts:

Automatic Solar
Tracking Photo
Voltic (Solar
Cells) Module
Magnetic
levitated
vertical wind
turbine 11/4/2020 8
DESIGN PARAMETERS

 Photo Voltic panel and wind turbine both are

connected to a charge controller and then to a battery
which is then connected to a inverter which distributes
power to appliances.
 Wind turbine is frictionless magnetic levitated

DESIGN PARAMETERS

 Power generated:

P=0.5 ρAV3
 Power is nothing but the kinetic energy generated by the turbine.

Where:
 Air Density (𝜌) = 1.225 kg/m3
 Area (A) = Swept Area of turbine blades
 Velocity (V) = wind speed in m/s

11/4/2020 10
DESIGN PARAMETERS
 The power output of vertical wind turbine vary depending on many parameters such as wind speed, air pressure, pitch angle and
so on. The power of wind turbine is determined using the following equation:

 Pm is the mechanical output power of wind turbine

 Cp is the coefficient of performance (the rotor efficiency)
 lambda is the pitch angle (degree)
 beta is the peak velocity ratio
 p is the air density (kg/m3)
 A is the rotor swept area (m2)
 v is the velocity of wind (m/s).

11/4/2020 11
DESIGN PARAMETERS

 For a given wind speed, the rotor efficiency Cp varies with the tip-speed ratio (TSR) which is defined as follows:

 where R is the rotor radius, w is the angular speed (rad/s),

 v is the velocity of wind (m/s).
 To capture the high power at high wind, the rotor must also turn at high speed keeping the TSR constant at the
optimum level.
 The variable-speed operation increases the output energy up to 20–30% according to the fixed-speed operation.

EXPECTED RESULT

 Multiple-axis solar tracking algorithm improved the power generated by the solar
panel with an efficiency improvement of 23.95 %. The study concluded that it is
highly important to track the sun at a high degree of accuracy to improve solar
irradiation absorption.[6]
 The system is designed and optimized as hybrid energy base power system in
parliamentary procedure to meet the existing user’s power require at a minimum
price of energy.

CONCLUSION

 Hybrid power generation system is effective solution for power generation than conventional
energy resources, has greater efficiency, with reduced transmission losses and cost. Cost
reduction can be obtained by increasing the production of the equipment. The increase in
the use of hybrid system is highly safe for the environment as it doesn’t produce any
harmful radiations and waste product like conventional energy resources.
