• If the recession caused by the Covid – 19 pandemic continues over a
long period of time affects the economic growth of BRICS countries.

• As the developed world faces recession, BRICS growth is enviably set


to flow.

• According to the IMF, “The world’s economy is expected to rebound


with the growth of 5.4% in 2021.”
Role of BRICS in the Global Economy
• It is predicted that the growth rate of the BRICS member states which is higher than
the global rate will lead to further increase in the share of the 5 countries.

• By 2030, it will exceed that of the USA and European countries combined reaching
37% of the global economy.

• The BRICS countries represent 19% of global exports, 16% of global imports, 19% of
incoming and almost the same amount of outgoing direct investment.

• The relative success in developing & coordinating new standards of finance regulation
is linked to BRICS.
