THE POWER OF FASTING

Matthew 6:16
16. "Moreover, when you fast,
do not be like the hypocrites,
with a sad countenance. For
they disfigure their faces that
they may appear to men to be
fasting. Assuredly, I say to you,
they have their reward.
 SELF-DENIAL

deny himself, and take up his

 SELF-HUMBLING
2 Chronicles 7:14
if My people who are called by My
name will humble themselves, and
pray and seek My face, and turn
from their wicked ways, then I will
hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin and heal their land.(NKJV)

But as for me, when they were sick,
My clothing was sackcloth; I humbled
myself with fasting; And my prayer
would return to my own heart.(NKJV)
 RIGHT PRIORITIES
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all
these things shall be added to you.(NKJV)
 John 21:3
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him,
"We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got
into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.(NKJV)
 DEPENDENCE UPON GOD
Nehemiah 1:4
So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned
for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.(NKJV)
 Esther 4:15-16
15. Then Esther told them to reply to
Mordecai:
16. "Go, gather all the Jews who are
present in Shushan, and fast for me;
neither eat nor drink for three days, night
or day. My maids and I will fast likewise.
And so I will go to the king, which is
against the law; and if I perish, I

18. The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were fasting. Then they came and
said to Him, "Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but Your
disciples do not fast?"
 19. And Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bridegroom fast while the
bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they
cannot fast.
20. But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them,
and then they will fast in those days.(NKJV)
FASTING: Is the wilful abstaining from
natural pleasures for Spiritual
purpose.
FASTING: Is a personal commitment
to renounce the natural to invoke the
Spiritual.
