Road to victory

EGYPT
That has been the Way of Allâh already with those who passed away before.
And you will not find any change in the Way of Allâh. (48-23)

Verily, (many) Messengers were denied before you (O Muhammad SAW), but
with patience they bore the denial, and they were hurt, till Our Help reached
them, and none can alter the Words (Decisions) of Allâh. Surely there has
reached you the information (news) about the Messengers (before you). (06-
34)
THE METHOD TO BRING CHANGE
AS PER SHARAH

1. Formation of party
2. Interaction
1. Ideological & Political struggle
2. Winning the support of people of power
3. Complete implementation of Islam
 An environment of resentment and frustration
 Tying the hands of the oppressors
 Separating the people of power
 All venues blocked except for desired
AN ENVIRONMENT OF RESENTMENT AND FRUSTRATION

 The most populous Arab country.

 10% unemployment rate
 20% below poverty line.
 Husni Mobarik in power since Sadaat
assassination in 1981
 One party rule.
TYING THE HANDS OF THE OPPRESSORS

 “We’ve been watching the events in Cairo with grave concern and completely condemn the
violence that’s taking place,” he said. “And if it turns out that the regime in any way has been
sponsoring and tolerating this violence, that would be completely and utterly unacceptable.
These are despicable scenes that we are seeing, and they should not be repeated.” Prime
Minister David Cameron
 “reiterates his wish to see a concrete transition process start without delay, in response to a
desire for change and renewal so strongly expressed by the population. He calls on all
Egyptian authorities to do everything to ensure that this crucial process takes place without
violence.” President Nikolas Sarkozy
 “People want democratic change and they want it now,” he said. “It must be a change toward
democracy. Not a change that begins someday, but one which begins now.” Foreign Minister
Guido Westerwelle
 “The Mubarak era in Egyptian politics is over,” Mr. Bildt said. “I now hope that real transition
to a democratic, pluralistic, and stable Egypt can begin.” The foreign minister, Carl Bildt
 Role of twitter and facebook
SEPARATING THE PEOPLE OF POWER

 Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held a

telephone conversation with Enan on Sunday in which he urged
restraint from Egypt's military, but at the same time praised the
"professionalism" of Egypt's armed forces, a Pentagon spokesman,
Capt. John Kirby, said at that time.
 Egypt receives about $1.3 billion a year in U.S. military aid, assistance
that could be jeopardized if the army moved against the demonstrations.
 Enan and more than 20 other Egyptian officers were in Washington for
long-planned talks when the unrest broke out in Cairo and other cities.
They were attending the Military Cooperation Committee, an Egyptian-
U.S. body that is chaired by Enan and Assistant U.S. Secretary of
Defense Sandy Vershbow.
ALL VENUES BLOCKED EXCEPT FOR DESIRED

 Appointment of Omar Suleiman as vice president

 Egypt's armed forces chief of staff Sami Enan could
be an acceptable successor to Hosni Mubarak
because he is perceived as incorruptible, a member
of the banned Muslim Brotherhood said on Tuesday.
 Helbawy added that an opposition "coalition" led by
former Egyptian diplomat Mohamed ElBaradei felt
Mubarak's departure was "the only way to avoid
bloodshed and avoid more conflict".
WHO IS OMAR SULEIMAN
 since 1993 Suleiman has headed the feared Egyptian
general intelligence service. In that capacity, he was the
C.I.A.’s point man in Egypt for renditions—the covert
program in which the C.I.A. snatched terror suspects from
around the world and returned them to Egypt and elsewhere
for interrogation, often under brutal circumstances.
 in Ron Suskind’s book, “The One Percent Doctrine.”
Katherine Hawkins, a sharp-eyed human-rights lawyer who
did legal research for my book, points out that, according to
Suskind, Suleiman was the C.I.A.’s liaison for the rendition
of an Al Qaeda suspect known as Ibn Sheikh al-Libi. The
Libi case is particularly controversial, in large part because
it played a role in the building of the case for the American
invasion of Iraq.
CHANGE OF FACE BUT KEEPING THE SYSTEM

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee:
 Egypt's US-backed army will prevent Islamists from ever controlling that country's

government, a US Senator said Tuesday, stressing Americans must not be "ashamed" of

backing that military.
 "Every American should be very appreciative of the fact that for years we've been

providing aid to the Egyptian army in terms of equipment and training, because that army
is our ace in the hole, as a world, to make sure Egypt doesn't go into a radical state," said
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
 Asked whether he meant the army would step in should Egyptian voters pick an Islamist

government, Graham replied: "It is my belief that the Egyptian army will protect the
Egyptian people from becoming a radical Islamic state."
 "That is my hope, that is my prayer," Graham, a member of the US Senate Armed Services

Committee, told reporters. "So the fact that we provided the aid to their military is not
something we should be ashamed of."
