Q 10.

5:- What is difference

Between real and virtual image?
•Real Image
•The image is due to reflection or
refraction, when the light arises from
an object and converges to a certain
point
• The real image can be captured on screen as it is the
result of actual intersection of ray of light
• The images are inverted
Convex lens is used to produce the Real
image
Virtual Image
• The image produced when the light arising
from an object appears to strike a certain point
• It cannot be captured on a screen as it is the
imaginary intersection of ray of light
• The images are erect
Diverging or convex lens are used to produce the image
Concave mirror is used to produce the
virtual image
hy real image is not formed by concave len
• The rays are diverged and not combining at one point . Seem to be
coming from one point. So virtual image is formed.
Q10.6:-How eyes get used to
darkness after some time
Answer
•When we enter into dimly
lit room from bright sun
shine , at first we can not
see things clearly.
•After some time our eye adjust
to see in darkness.
Resason
• This is because the retina of our eye contains two type
of vision cells
• Cone cells:- they are near the center of retina.
• These are active in bright light only and can perceive
colour vision also
• Rod cells :- they are present out side the retina, they are
active in dim light and only perceive objects black and
white.
Function:-

• When we move from bright light to dark area ,

cone cell become de- activated. But rod cell do
not immediately activate so that we feel
difficulty in seeing some time .
• The rod cell become active after some time and
we are able to see in darkness.
Q 10.7 what are differences
and similarities between
camera and eye
Camera vs Eyes: Similarities

•Image focusing:
• Human and camera lenses both focus an inverted
image onto light-sensitive surface.
• In the case of a camera, it’s focused onto film or
a sensor chip.
• In your eyes, the light-sensitive surface is the
retina on the inside of your eyeball.
Light adjustment:

•Both the eye and a camera can

adjust quantity of light entering.
•On a camera, it’s done with the
aperture control built into your lens,
whilst in your eye, it’s done by
having a larger or smaller iris.
Camera vs Eyes:
Differences
Absolute versus subjective measuring of
light:
•The human eye is a subjective device. This means
that your eyes work with your brain to create the
images you perceive.
•A camera is an absolute measurement device — It
is measuring the light that hits a series of sensor,
but the signals recorded need to be adjusted to
suit the color of the light illuminating the scene.
Lens focus:
• In camera, the lens moves closer/further
from the film to focus.
• In your eyes, the lens changes shape to
focus.
• The muscles in your eyes change the actual
shape of the lens inside your eyes.
Sensitivity to light:
• A film in a camera is uniformly sensitive to light.
The human retina is not. Therefore, with respect to
quality of image and capturing power, our eyes have
a greater sensitivity in dark locations than a typical
camera.
• There are lighting situations that a current digital
cameras cannot capture easily: The photos will come
out blurry.
