What is Configuration management?
Configuration Management (CM) is the process of handling
products, facilities and processes by managing the
information about them, including changes, and ensuring they
are what they are supposed to be in every case. International
Standard ISO 10007 gives guidance on the use of CM.
Necessity of software configuration
management
• Inconsistency problem when the objects are replicated.
• Problems associated with concurrent access
• Providing a stable development environment.
• System accounting and maintaining status information.
• Handling variants
Software configuration management
activities
Configuration management is carried out through
two principal activities:
• Configuration identification involves deciding
which parts of the system should be kept track of.
• Configuration control ensures that changes to a
system happen smoothly
WHAT IS SYSTEM SAFETY?
System Safety is the application of engineering and
management principles, criteria and techniques to
optimize safety within the constraints of operational
effectiveness, time and cost throughout all phases of
the system life cycle.
ADVANTAGES OF SYSTEM SAFETY:
• Better safety culture
• Improved safety in operational environment
• Better compliance results
• Less accidents
• Less unacceptable safety incidents
• Better safety-decision making
• More safety data
• Improved safety documentation
• Better performance on inspections/audits (
DISADVANTAGES OF SAFETY :
1.Hard to implemented
2.Need complicated material to implement
3.Very Expensive
