What is history
 History is the study of the past as it is
described in written documents
History Of Nursing
 About 1000 B.C the Indian physician Charaka
set down the following standards for the care
of the sick
Past Civilization and Medicine
 In 4000 B.C medical school exited in Egypt.
There are incications in the teeth of many of the
mummies that dentistry was well advanced.
Medicine and Religion
 Max Muller has stated that ‘’Religion is the
worship of a higher power from asense of
needs’’. Higher power are included
ancestors,gods and spirits.
Early Nursing Centres
 Queen Isabela of castile is the mother of
katherine of Aragon who was interested in
army hospitals. Military nursing orders grew
largely as arevoit by the people at the a trocities
practised by the turks on the pilgrim
journeying to jerusalem during the famous
crusades
The International Council of Nurses
 The International council of nurses is a
federation of National Nurses Asssociation
concerned primarily with the improvement of
nursing

Florence Niightingale
 Florence Nightingale was born in Italy on 12th
May 1820 , of wealthy and cultured
Nightingale. She was intesenly interested in
medical care and hospital and was anxious to
become a nurse
Susruta
 In ancient India, surgery was developed to a
surpisingly high level. The Hindhus have an
axcellent knowledge of Anatomy and
Physiology
Hippocrates
 The Greeks were leaders in theory, clinical
medicine and clinical instruction. It was
hippocrates, was born 460 B.C the ‘’father of
Medicine’’ who removed the care of the sick
from magic and supersion and placed if on a
scientific basis
Lucy Osburn
 In 1866 Sir Heny Parkes, colonial secretary,
wrote to Miss Nightingale asking for assistance
and advice. It was in 1868 that miss Lucy
Osburn, a personal friend ogf Miss Nightingale
arived in Sydney with five nurse

 In 1985 nursing education for scholar being
opened and named by Nursing Science study
programm.
