• The Respiratory system is a biological system consisting
of specific organs and structures used for gas exchange in animals and plants. • Respiration is the biochemical process in which the cells of an organism obtain energy by combining oxygen and glucose, resulting in the release of carbon dioxide, water, and ATP (the currency of energy in cells). • We take in oxygen in the air with our mouth , and release carbon dioxide to the air. • Larynx is an organ in the top of the neck involved in breathing, producing sound and protecting the trachea against food aspiration. • Trachea is hollow tube that connects the larynx to the bronchi of the lungs. • Bronchi is extensions of the windpipe that shuttle air to and from the lungs. • Lung is to bring in air from the atmosphere and pass oxygen into the bloodstream. • Diaphragm is a dome-shaped sheet of muscle that separates the chest cavity from the abdomen. • Air sacs help to increase respiratory efficiency by providing a large surface area for gas exchange.
