Control with no additional licensing requirements and eliminating Commvault spend on software
maintenance and new licenses.
IBM Spectrum Accelerate *Stackable licensing model to maximize software value while minimizing licensing requirement
• Spectrum Storage Suite is a single software license that would entitle you to deploy any combination of our
software-defined storage solutions on the same licensed disk infrastructure.
IBM Spectrum Scale • Once you deploy Control (TPC) on the target disk, you can deploy Virtualize (SVC) and Compression (RtC)
and its one license per terabyte. You can even store your Protect backup data on that same target disk
without requiring additional licensing if you choose.
IBM Cloud Object Storage • If you monitor Scale and COS with Control and continue moving production back up data to your Scale/ESS
environment, and archive data to COS, you license once and leverage as many of the software-defined
storage solutions as needed on that target disk.

Spectrum Storage Evolution
Spectrum Storage Suite -
Provides unlimited access to IBM’s comprehensive set of software-defined storage tools with convenient per-TB pricing
Goal is Spectrum Protect deduplication, moving to Scale and COS storage tiers for back up’s
• Spectrum Protect 5324 TB’s deduplicated moving to Scale and COS
• Point Control at Scale and COS, stacking benefit
Gain the entire Software Defined Storage portfolio, and reuse TB’s as workloads evolve.
IBM
* Assumptions on Current State: Systems
Spectrum Storage Suite Tips for Success…
• Good Candidates
• Infrastructure Candidate… Control (TPC), Virtualize (SVC), Compression (RtC), Accelerate (XIV
Software, buying as part of hardware today)
• Infrastructure Candidate with Spectrum Protect… backing up Spectrum Protect Primary Storage Pool
data to disk or mostly disk, which is monitored by Control (TPC).
• Bad Candidates
• Spectrum Protect with lots of data stored on tape
• Scale Socket Model
• Significant Category 3 Storage Environment with VSC more cost-effective

Notes:
Performance is in Internal Throughput Rate (ITR) ratio based on measurements and projections using standard IBM benchmarks in a controlled environment. The actual throughput that any user will experience will vary
depending upon considerations such as the amount of multiprogramming in the user's job stream, the I/O configuration, the storage configuration, and the workload processed. Therefore, no assurance can be given
that an individual user will achieve throughput improvements equivalent to the performance ratios stated here.
All customer examples cited or described in this presentation are presented as illustrations of the manner in which some customers have used IBM products and the results they may have achieved. Actual
environmental costs and performance characteristics will vary depending on individual customer configurations and conditions.
