Investment
An investment is an asset or item acquired withthe goal of
generating income or appreciation. Appreciation refers to an
increase in the value of an asset over time. When an
individual purchases a good as an investment, the intent is
not to consume the good but rather to use it in the future
to create wealth.

It's better to invest in Stock and Bonds because it
can offer higher return of investment and you are
sure that your money will grow, and one of the
example of stocks in the Philippines is the Jollibee
Food Corporation, where you can buy a stock for a
certain price and your money can grow in just few
months, it may now grow fast but you can assure
that your money is in good investment
and also The Jollibee Food Corporation
were able to maintain consistent growth
on their revenues, net income, retained
earnings and total inventory. so you are
sure that your money that you are
investing is in good hands
Saving
vs.
Investing
Quite simply, you invest to create and preserve wealth.

Savings

• Saving generally involves putting money into a bank or building society

account or money market fund that is relatively safe and pays a fixed,
although typically low rate of interest.

• However, a savings plan may not earn you wealth enhancing returns over
the long term and taking into account the impact of inflation the real
purchasing power of your money will likely decline.

• Savings can be used to increase income through investing.

• Savings refers to the amount left over after an individual's consumer

spending is subtracted from the amount of disposable income earned in a
given period of time.
Investment

• Investing can help you to both create and preserve your

wealth. By taking an appropriate level of risk you may have the
opportunity to earn potentially higher long-term returns. It is
important to remember that the value of investments, and the
income from them, may fall or rise and investors may get back
less than they invested.

• An investment is an asset or item that is purchased with the

hope that it will generate income or appreciate in value at some
point in the future.

Fields of Investment
INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

• Investment managers help clients by managing

their money. Clients can include individuals,
educational institutions, insurance companies,
and pension funds.

• Investment managers perform financial analysis,

portfolio allocation between bonds and stocks,
equity research, and issue buy and sell
recommendations.
Investment managers can have varied roles and
responsibilities, depending on the firm, which can
include:
• Financial statement analysis
• Portfolio allocation such as a proper mix of bonds
and stocks
• Equity research and buy and sell
recommendations
• Financial planning and advising
• Estate and retirement planning as well as asset
distribution
INVESTMENT BANKING
• Investment bankers help with corporate finance needs, such as
raising funds or capital. Companies and governments hire
investment bankers to facilitate mergers and acquisitions as well
as IPOs, and new debt issuance such as a bond offering.

Companies and governments hire investment bankers to facilitate

complicated financial transactions, including:

• Debt issuance such as a bond offering
• New securities underwriting
• Mergers and acquisitions
• Initial public offerings (IPOs)
INVESTMENT TIME FRAME

• It is the length of time you have to invest.

When you will need to cash out your investments?

SHORT-TERM INVESTMENTS
• Short-term investments, also known as marketable securities or
temporary investments, are those which can easily be converted to
cash. Many short-term investments are sold or converted to cash after
a period of only 3-12 months.

LONG-TERM INVESTMENTS
• A long-term investment is an account on the asset side of a
company's balance sheet that represents the company's investments,
including stocks, bonds, real estate, and cash. Long-term investments
are assets that a company intends to hold for more than a year.
Investments are divided into income assets and
growth assets.

Growth assets

• These are designed to provide most of their

returns in the form of capital growth over time.
Growth assets include UK and international
equities, and property investments. Over the
longer term, these assets can help to protect
against inflation.
Income assets

• These primarily provide returns in the form

of income and include cash investments,
bonds and certain equities. Income assets
tend to provide more stable, but lower
returns. If your primary need is for income
you may benefit from holding a higher
proportion of income assets.
