About
The official name of Colombia is the Republic of Colombia and is derived
from the last name of explorer Christopher Columbus. The country’s name
is pronounced Col-o-mbia, not Col-u-mbia, which is a common mistake by
non-Spanish speaking visitors.
The economy of Colombia is the fourth largest in Latin America as
Capital : Bogota measured by gross domestic product.
Largest City : Bogota Colombia is the only country in South America that has coastlines on the
Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. 
Population : More than 99.2% of Colombians speak Spanish, 65 Amerindian languages,
49.65 million two Creole languages, the Romani language and Colombian Sign
Language are also used in the country. English has official status in
the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina

Due to geographic, historical and cultural issues the
country is divided into several regions: Caribe, Pacific,
Andinean, Amazonic, west.

middle east cultures.
