BACKGROUND

 The exclusive provider of mail services in Malaysia.


 When it was privatized?
- It was privatized in the year of 1992.
- It was privatized through sale to Phileo Allied, a financial services group,
for RM 800 million (2001)
- Before it was privatized, it was known as the Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pos
- It began to take over numerous services on behalf of Government
machineries
 Why it need to be privatized?
- increasing demands of customers
- to reduce government’s financial burden
- to increase the quality of service
- to encourage fair and healthy competition- FedEx,DHL
BENEFITS
 Government
- government need not to support this department’s expenses
 Company
- increase the productivity and the quality of services- the
buildings has been upgraded
 People
- to provide jobs ( It employs 14,000 now, compared with
12,000 in 1996)
- increasing of wages
CHALLENGES
 The rate of services increase
 Ordinary stamps – 50 cents
