Internet and its Evaluation

 a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of
interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.

 The internet is a globally connected network system that uses TCP/IP to transmit data via various types of
media. The internet is a network of global exchanges – including private, public, business, academic and
government networks – connected by guided, wireless and fiber-optic technologies.

 The terms internet and World Wide Web are often used interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same
thing; the internet refers to the global communication system, including hardware and infrastructure, while the
web is one of the services communicated over the internet.
Search Engine

 A search engine is software, typically

accessed on the Internet, that searches a

database of information according to the

user's query. The engine provides a list of

results that best match what the user is

looking for.
Web Browser

 A web browser is a software that is used to access the internet. With out a web browser, we can not

use the internet.

 A web browser is a software program that allows a user to locate, access, and display web pages. In

common usage, a web browser is usually shortened to "browser." Browsers are used primarily for

displaying and accessing websites on the internet, as well as other content created using languages

such as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Extensible Markup Language (XML)
Cont.…

 Browsers translate web pages and websites delivered using Hypertext Transfer Protocol

(HTTP) into human-readable content. They also have the ability to display other

protocols and prefixes, such as secure HTTP (HTTPS), File Transfer Protocol (FTP),

email handling (mailto:), and files (file:). In addition, most browsers also support

external plug-ins required to display active content, such as in-page video, audio and

game content.
Social Media

 websites and applications that

enable users to create and share
content or to participate in social
networking is known as social
media.
E-mail services

 Also known as webmail, online email

service providers enable users to
send, receive and review e-mail from
their Web browsers. Email services
offer easy access and storage of e-
mail messages for users who are not
connected to the Internet from their
usual location.
Web 2.0

 Web 2.0 is the name used to the describe the second generation of the world wide web,
where it moved static HTML pages to a more interactive and dynamic web experience.
Web 2.0 is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online via
social media, blogging and Web-based communities.

 Web 2.0 signaled a change in which the world wide web became an interactive experience
between users and Web publishers, rather than the one-way conversation that had
previously existed. It also represents a more populist version of the Web, where new tools
made it possible for nearly anyone to contribute, regardless of their technical knowledge.
Cloud computing.

 the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and
process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer.

 These days, the Cloud Computing is probably the most considerable technology in the IT sector. It
is broadly made use to deliver services well over the internet for both low priced and technical
motives. Cloud Computing support virtualization technique over the internet to meet the stretchy
demand of the users with less interaction by having service provider.
Green Computing

 Green computing, also called green technology, is the

environmentally responsible use of computers and related

resources. Such practices include the implementation of energy-

efficient central processing units (CPUs), servers and

peripherals as well as reduced resource consumption and proper

disposal of electronic waste

Virtual computing

 Virtual computing allows computer users remote access to software

applications and processes when they need it. Users gain access via the

Internet through a wireless or network server. For a fee, users can boost their

computers' capabilities, size, performance, processes and/or software

applications whenever they need it. f

Functions of Virtual computing

 Operating and utility systems

 Storage
 Memory
 Software
 Allocation and reassignment of input/output and other processes
 Data backup
 Automated problem solving and troubleshooting
 Tools for monitoring and managing systems

e-Commerce

 Ecommerce refers to commercial transactions conducted online. This means that whenever you buy and sell
something using the Internet, you’re involved in ecommerce.

E-learning

 learning conducted via electronic media, typically on the Internet

 eLearning is learning utilizing electronic technologies to access educational curriculum outside of a

traditional classroom.

  In most cases, it refers to a course, program or degree delivered completely online.

 It is the new approach to learning where the learner has control over What When and Where we

learns.
E-health

 healthcare services provided electronically via the Internet

 eHealth is the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for health. The
eHealth unit works with partners at the global, regional and country level to promote and
strengthen the use of ICT in health development, from applications in the field to global
governance. The unit is based in the Department of Service Delivery and Safety in the
Cluster of Health Systems and Innovation.
e-Government

 E-Government (from electronic government, also known as e-gov, digital government,

online government or in a certain context transformational government) refers to the use of
internet technology as a platform for exchanging information, providing services and
transacting with citizens, businesses, and other arms of government. E-Government may be
applied by the legislature, judiciary, or administration, in order to improve internal efficiency,
the delivery of public services, or processes of democratic governance.
e-Library

 (Digital Library; E-Library) A set of documents available through electronic means by

the use of digital technologies that allow for the retrieval, archiving, preservation, and
dissemination of those documents
