 The Hinilawod epic tells the


story of the exploits of the three
demigod brothers, Labaw
Donggon, Humadapnon and
Dumalapdap of Panay. In its
original form the epic would
take about three days to
perform (including breaks for
food and sleep), thus making it
one of the longest epics in the
world.
Anthropologist
Dr. F. Landa Jocano
recorded a version
of the epic from the
inhabitants of
Central Panay.

• From 1950’s up to 2000’s there are more than 100 art


styles and movements
• The artist have experimented on a variety of techniques
and different ways of expressing their emotion,
perceptions, convictions, ideas, and ideology
• Contemporary artists did not feel obliged to apply
perspective, color combination, naturalism, and other
guidelines that were carefully observed in traditional
art
