Find optimal size & Run Record the Voltage Profile and
simulation total power loss of the System
• The simulation is tested on the 26 bus arrangement test system by Hadi Saadat
Text Book
• Base case of the simulation is simulated and is used as the comparison for each
simulation
• Each simulation is conducted by introducing a 30MW real power injection on
each bus one by one as solar power only cater Real Power generation and the
total power loss and voltage profile is recorded
• The optimal placement is chosen by picking the placement of DG which
improves the total power loss of the system.
• The optimal size is chosen using matlab coding between the size of 20MW to
50MW by referring to the constrain total power loss.

• When the 30 MW DG is introduced at bus 1,5,13 ,17 and 26 , the total system
power loss has increased.
• DG placement at bus 5 shows the worst case as it increases the total power
system loss by 5.16 %
• The highest power loss increase is recorded at 19.0424 MW compared to base
power loss at 18.1074 MW
• The best placement is recorded to be at bus 24 as it improves the total power
system loss by 6.61%
• This improves the total power loss from 18.1074 MW to 16.9099 MW

CONCLUSION

• The best bus for the placement of the PV DG is at bus 24

• The optimal sizing will be 48.6938 MW
• The placement of the DG can bring negative and positive effect to the
overall system as it increases and decreases the total power loss of the
system
• The voltage profile decreases from the base case but only in a small
difference in this test system but did not violate any constrains.
FUTURE WORK

• Comparison of two simulation software EX: PSSE & GAMS

• Simulation which include the involvement of the photovoltaic power electronic
component and real day simulation of irradiation.
• Simulation based on real local utility network for more realistic approach.
• Simulation on combination of multiple PV DG and other type of DG.
